Hanoi, September 20, 2025 – Representatives from the Vietnam Metal Recycling Forum (VMRF) and Ms. Minh Trinh, a Senior Corporate Advisory Specialist, held a working session with a major multidisciplinary Vietnamese corporation (requesting anonymity) at its head office in Hanoi.
Concern over the Reality of Craft Village Pollution
For over two decades of operation in Hung Yen, the corporation has not only been involved in local production but also deeply concerned with community life.
During the meeting, the corporation’s leaders expressed their desire to give back to society, particularly by finding solutions to the environmental pollution in recycling craft villages, such as Minh Khai Village. The pollution in these villages has persisted for decades, severely impacting community health, with alarming rates of diseases, including cancer.
This is considered an urgent issue that requires the collective effort of the government, businesses, and the entire society.
Solutions Discussed
In an open and collaborative spirit, the meeting addressed several potential solutions:
- Establish a Green Recycling Industrial Cluster: Study suitable land to relocate recycling activities into a centralized area.
- Invest in Modern Waste Treatment Systems: Treat exhaust gas, wastewater, and dust to meet international standards.
- Create Separate Zones: Segregate plastic and metal recycling to minimize cross-contamination.
- Collaborate with Professional Environmental Firms: Set “real-world problems” for environmental companies to propose optimal and thorough solutions.
- Move Toward a Circular Economy Model: Protect the environment while ensuring sustainable livelihoods for the local people.
VMRF’s Consultative Role
During the session, VMRF was invited to share its experiences in the recycling industry and potential international connections.
The forum emphasized that VMRF’s role is strictly consultative, focused on networking and knowledge sharing. All final decisions and practical actions will depend on the corporation and relevant authorities.
Cooperative Future Outlook
The September 20 meeting was viewed as a “favorable connection” that opened up opportunities for practical collaboration toward a common goal: improving the living environment in Hung Yen and gradually resolving the long-standing pollution problem in recycling craft villages. The ultimate aim is to build a green, clean, and safe environment for current and future generations.
This working session not only demonstrated a strong sense of corporate social responsibility from a major corporation but also highlighted the growing concern of the business community and society for environmental issues. For VMRF, this was an opportunity to contribute its small part in an advisory and networking capacity, in line with the forum’s mission to promote the Vietnamese metal recycling industry in a sustainable, green, and internationally integrated manner.
