At the BIR World Recycling Convention 2025 in Bangkok, industry leaders from across the globe reaffirmed the crucial role of recycling in navigating today’s shifting trade, policy, and technology landscape.
In the Non-Ferrous Metals Division, experts emphasized that “non-ferrous material flows are like trade winds – you can’t predict the direction without accurate data.” Discussions led by Paul Coyte (Hayes Metals), Jessica Fung (Project Blue), Inge Hofkens (Aurubis), and Stuart Kagan (Buddy) highlighted how smart data, digitalization, and collaboration are essential to managing volatility and strengthening global supply chains for copper and other critical metals.
Meanwhile, the Ferrous Division presented the 16th edition of “World Steel Recycling in Figures”, showing that recycled steel contributes over 630 million tonnes annually to global steelmaking — preventing nearly 950 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Although global crude steel production dipped slightly in early 2025, nations like India and Turkey stood out for increasing their recycled steel usage, reaffirming the momentum toward green and circular steelmaking.
As global partners in the recycling ecosystem, VMRF – Vietnam Metal Recycling Forum recognizes that sustainable trade, data transparency, and industry unity will shape the future of circular economies — not only in Asia but worldwide.
♻️ Together, we recycle responsibly – for a cleaner, smarter, and more connected world.
