THE VMRF JOURNEY 2024–2025

BUILDING A TRANSPARENT, CONNECTED, AND SUSTAINABLE RECYCLING ECOSYSTEM TOGETHER

Starting from a Shared Vision

On March 1, 2024, the Vietnam Non-Ferrous Metals Recycling Forum (VMRF) was officially established with the consensus and enthusiasm of the recycling business community. The event took place in Hanoi with the participation of 36 delegates from 30 companies operating in the recycling and scrap trading sectors—marking a pioneering step in forming a professional community with a clear voice and direction for the non-ferrous metal recycling industry in Vietnam.

More importantly, from the very first days, VMRF received strong support from its member businesses—those who contributed not only through resources but also through proactive networking, knowledge sharing, and building a foundation for integration.

The Government Partnering with Businesses, Especially SMEs

In the context of a powerful global shift toward sustainable development and emission reduction, the Vietnamese Government has shown deep concern for supporting and enhancing the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)—particularly recycling businesses that play a key role in transforming waste into resources within the circular economy.

Through policies such as:

  • The Law on Environmental Protection
  • EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility)
  • Technical regulations on the import and processing of scrap

… authorities are creating favorable conditions for businesses in the recycling industry to transition their models toward transparency, technologization, compliance, and social responsibility.

Connection is Strength – Inside and Beyond Borders

One of the core values of VMRF is: Connect, Share, Synergize. We believe that every business, whether large or small, is an important link in the recycling value chain. When properly linked, we not only optimize our internal capabilities but also stand ready to reach out to the international market.

In 2024–2025, VMRF continuously expanded its external relations with prestigious associations such as:

  • VDM (German)
  • MRAI (India)
  • CMRA (China)
  • BIR (Global)
  • BMR (Middle East)
  • SMM (China)

These connections are not merely “international networking” but are opportunities to raise awareness and rapidly update on global policies, technological trends, carbon credit mechanisms, and ESG standards—allowing every business within VMRF to perfect itself.

Enhancing Social Roles and Professional Community Responsibility

As a professional industry organization, VMRF aims for a dual goal:

  1. Enhance production and business efficiency in the non-ferrous metal recycling industry.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility and environmental protection.

We believe that:

“Recycling is not just an industry; it is a commitment to the future of the planet.”

In 2025, VMRF has:

  • Partnered with MRAI to organize the IBIS 2025 international conference in Ho Chi Minh City—attracting over 700 guests from 36 countries.
  • Participated in specialized workshops regarding craft village pollution, commodity derivatives, and lead-acid batteries.
  • Signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with regional recycling organizations on carbon emission reduction and cooperation for sustainable recycling.

All of this demonstrates that VMRF is increasingly asserting its role as a responsible, dynamic, and effectively connected professional organization.

The 2026 Invitation: Continue to Accompany, Moving Forward Together

On the upcoming journey, VMRF looks forward to the continued active participation of its member businesses:

  • Proactively share information, connect opportunities, and support one another.
  • Actively engage in internal training and policy updates.
  • Enhance community roles toward cleaner and more responsible production.

We may be small or large enterprises, but when we belong to the same ecosystem—a community connected by shared values—we can create a truly far-reaching impact.

VMRF is not just a forum; it is a collective journey. Thank you to everyone who has been, is, and will be accompanying us.
