The 15th International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Conference & Exhibition (IBAAS–VFMSTA 2026) will take place on October 28–29, 2026, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, organized jointly by the International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Society (IBAAS) and the Vietnam Foundry and Metallurgy Science and Technology Association (VFMSTA).
The event is expected to bring together more than 200 international delegates, including companies, researchers, investors and technology providers across the aluminium value chain.
Key Topics
Bauxite and critical minerals: Bauxite resource development and the potential recovery of gallium, vanadium, scandium and rare earth elements from bauxite, Bayer streams and red mud.
Alumina and red mud: Energy-efficient technologies, red mud treatment and value recovery from red mud, supporting the development of a circular economy.
Green aluminium: Low-carbon aluminium smelting technologies, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and solutions to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
Aluminium processing and recycling: Casting, rolling, extrusion, value-added aluminium products, and particularly aluminium recycling and the development of a circular aluminium value chain.
Digital transformation: The application of Industry 4.0, digital twins and AI to optimize production and operations across the aluminium industry.
The conference will also feature a number of studies directly related to bauxite in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, Tan Rai, Lam Dong and Dak Nong, focusing on improving processing efficiency, red mud treatment and the recovery of valuable components.
VMRF Becomes Associate Partner of IBAAS–VFMSTA 2026
The Vietnam Metal Recycling Forum (VMRF) will participate as an Associate Partner of IBAAS–VFMSTA 2026, helping promote the conference and connect the event with Vietnam’s metal recycling business community.
IBAAS has recognized VMRF’s cooperation network with respected industry organizations, including CMRA, MRAI, BMR, Mtlexs and SMM. IBAAS also noted its close cooperation with MRAI and Mtlexs. The partnership with VMRF is expected to further strengthen connections between Vietnam’s metal recycling community and the international aluminium value chain.
For recycling companies, the conference offers an opportunity to explore developments in recycled aluminium, the circular economy, scrap processing technologies, decarbonization and new industrial technologies, while expanding connections with international companies and organizations.
Following the conference, the organizers are scheduled to arrange a technical visit to Grando Aluminum, including a visit to its aluminium recycling plant, on October 30, 2026.
Date: October 28–29, 2026
