From May 9–12, 2026, the international conference The Third Recycling Metals Spring Convention 2026, organized by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metal Branch (CMRA), was held at JW Marriott Hanoi with the participation of more than 200 delegates representing over 100 enterprises in the metal recycling, metallurgy, and environmental industries.
According to the organizing committee, the conference brought together 59 Chinese enterprises and 49 international companies, including representatives from Vietnam, creating an important networking platform for the regional metal recycling industry.
During the conference program on May 10, 2026, presentations delivered by Vietnamese speakers attracted significant attention from the international community.
Mr. Pham Sinh Thanh, representative of the Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency under Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, presented Vietnam’s development orientation for the metal recycling sector within the country’s environmental industry and circular economy strategy. His presentation emphasized the role of metal recycling in ensuring raw material security, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting the development of the secondary resource industry.

Following this, Dr. Thong Nguyen, researcher at the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Agriculture and Environment (ISPAE) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, shared insights on Vietnam’s policies for recycled metal materials management and the implementation of the circular economy. The presentation provided updates on new regulations related to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), environmental standards, green investment incentives, and opportunities for the development of Vietnam’s metal recycling industry.

Representing the Vietnam Metal Recycling Forum (VMRF), Dr. Ngo Thi Lan Phuong delivered a presentation on the policy framework and development opportunities for Vietnam’s metal recycling industry. The study highlighted that Vietnam is facing significant opportunities to develop modern recycling industrial zones, attract high-tech investment, and integrate more deeply into the global circular supply chain.

In addition to the Vietnamese presentations, many international speakers shared perspectives on global metal scrap market trends, the impacts of the green transition, ESG requirements, and the growing need to develop sustainable recycled material supply chains in Asia. Discussion sessions focused on:
- Fluctuations in global metal scrap trade;
- Advanced sorting and recycling technologies;
- Strengthening material traceability;
- Investment opportunities in emerging markets such as Vietnam and ASEAN;
- The role of the circular economy in the future metallurgy industry.
Many international enterprises assessed Vietnam as an increasingly promising destination for the metal recycling industry thanks to its rapid industrialization, growing demand for raw materials, and increasingly clear policy direction toward the circular economy.
The Third Recycling Metals Spring Convention 2026 is considered an important milestone that contributes to strengthening international connections and opening up new cooperation opportunities for Vietnam’s metal recycling industry during the green transition and circular economy development process.
